I am going to diet slowly down. I will be eating about 1500-1700 cals per day because I am trying to gain muscle while losing fat. My macros will be 40/30/30, Carbs, Protein, Fat percentages. I really need to start looking at the amount of protein I eat, I am not against meat or anything but if given a choice I would eat bread and pasta all the time. Well anyway, once I am down to within 10 pounds of my goal, which is going to take some time, I am then going to start a competition diet. They last anywhere from 8 to 20 weeks depending on what you are trying to achieve. The comp. diets are very hard on your body and are not meant to be eaten as your regular diet. The do not provide enough calories and restrict what you can eat so much but for 12 weeks it should be ok. I will go to a Nutritionist/Trainer for the Competition diet. I will also probably start working out with her at this time also.
As for workouts, right now I am training weights 3X/week. I lift really heavy when I train because my body responds to it so well. For cardio I am training for a ½ marathon in March. After this ½ I won’t do another long race until after my figure comp as all that running eats up muscle and is really hard my body. I will switch over to 1 hour slow and steady cardio 4X/week with 2 HIIT sessions 2X/week. Switching it up between running and spinning.
I am also going to do yoga for relaxation 2-3X/week. It is basically a huge stretching session but it helps with recovery. I am going to start getting deep tissue massages 2X/month to help with recovery and healing.
Supplements will be crucial during this process. Here is what I will be taking:
Pre-workout:
1. N.O. Explode
2. Glutamine
3. BCAA
Post-workout (weights):
1. 1 Scoop Jay Robb protein powder
2. Glutamine
3. BCAA
Post-workout (cardio):
1. Glutamine
2. BCAA
3. B-complex vitamin
4. Vitamin C
5. Some high carb. food item such as a banana
Other things I plan on doing would be sure I get 1 gal of water/day, 8 hours of sleep/night and drink green tea with every meal and more throughout the day. I LOVE green tea! I am going to start to post daily about my workouts and food intake. I will eventually post pics but I am not ready yet. ;)
